The Marianna Woman’s Club Young Women Can Change the World Springtime Beauty Pageant will be held on Saturday, May 20, at 6:00 p.m. in the Chipola College Cultural Center. Many of the Marianna Woman’s Club members were members of the Marianna Lady Elk organization and for almost 30 years supported the Florida Elks Children’s Programs and other local causes. They will bring their support and energy now to the Marianna Woman’s Club to help with its Scholarship Program and community outreach programs.

Marianna Woman’s Club has a long history of being a community service organization. Thousands of dollars in scholarships to Chipola College students have been given over the years. For many years the only public library in the area was housed in the Woman’s Clubhouse and was operated by club members until moved to the new Jackson County Public Library in 1976.

The Marianna Woman’s Club has been, and continues to be, successful in the original goal of community service. Listed here are some of the many different projects that are supported by MWC members: Chipola College Scholarships, Hacienda Girls Ranch, MHS Juniorettes, Special Olympics, the Jackson County Library Dessert Extravaganza, Veterans Appreciation Fair , National Salute to Veterans at the local Marianna Community Based Outpatient Clinic, Voter Registration, Hugh O’Bryan Youth Foundation (HOBY), Arts and Craft Workshops, Conservation Projects, Chipola Family Ministries Food Bank, Christmas Gifts for Residents of Local Nursing homes, Partners for Pets, First Responders Appreciation Day, Bag Mat project for homeless veterans, Shot @ Life, and Operation Christmas Child.
